July 25 - Day 20

Today we took a short ride around the outskirts of Fairbanks. Due to lack of airbags, we didn't
want to go too far. Also, my back has been acting up again. Donny has also complained of a few back twinges - we really have to walk more and ride less!

We stopped for a while at a marsh and I photographed some ducks, butterflies and a new dragonfly - Black Meadowhawk. We hoped to visit Gold Dredge No. 8 today, but it was closed. We will return on Monday or Tuesday.

We also stopped at the University of Alaska's Large Animal Research Center to see musk oxen, since we probably won't have a chance to see them in the wild. We also considered visiting the Botanical Gardens, but there was a tremendous crowd of people there, so may try again.

My back has been getting worse today, so we are going to stop at another campground and rest up. We hope the camper will get repaired tomorrow, but we may have to spend a few days here if parts need to be ordered.

Donny spotted an old piece of equipment -- R.G. Letourneau's famous Snow Train -- in a junk yard near our campground. We need to get pictures of that before we move on.
