Hello again,
Top photo above is of the Auriol Range, taken as we left Haines, YT.
Well we spent our first night in Alaska. After crossing the border, the sky cleared a bit and we got some sun. As we continued toward Fairbanks and the end of the Alaska Highway, we stopped briefly in Delta Junction. Found some great old construction equipment that was used on the original road-building project. Donny posed with a couple of models of Alaska's state "bird."
After passing through Delta Junction, we started looking for a campsite for the night. Found a nice secluded turn out along the Tenana River in a small town called Salcha. Between Delta Junction and Salcha, we saw 11 moose! We were surprised how little wildlife we saw in British Columbia and Yukon. Hope this means we will see more now that we are in AK.
Tomorrow we will probably head south toward Anchorage. Donny has a friend there, whom we will visit over the weekend. Will probably spend Thursday night on the Denali Highway, east of Denali National Park.
Later
